Chapter 4: Terrifying! The Power of an Elf’s Magic!

Yario left the kingdom together with Seretine and continued on his long journey…

Along the way, they encountered a monster.

“…Goblin this time, huh?”

It was humanoid in appearance, but shorter, thin, and ugly, looking somewhat like a small demon.

They were capable of communicating through language and carried clubs, bows, and other weapons in their hands, showing that they possessed a certain degree of intelligence.

They were not to be underestimated, even more so than slimes.

“Kekekekeke!”

“A stupid prey has come right to us!”

“Perfect timing.”

“Looks like we’re having human flesh for dinner tonight.”

“Curse your own fate.”

“You’re about to be ground into minced meat and turned into hamburger steak!”

“Die!!”

A large number of goblins charged at them all at once.

Faced with such overwhelming numbers, Yario felt a chill run down his spine.

He quickly drew his Holy Sword and took a fighting stance.

“But you’ve forgotten one thing…”

“There’s someone else here too!”

“What!?”

That was right.

Yario was not alone.

Beside him was an elf named Seretine.

Seretine tossed her staff into the air and began chanting.

O clouds of the spirits, grant me lightning to become my power.

At once…

Dark clouds gathered overhead.

A bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, hitting the staff floating in midair.

“Now!”

Seretine leapt upward.

She planted her foot on the jewel at the tip of the electrified staff suspended in the air.

Thunder Stellar!!

She kicked the staff upward, sending it spinning through the air.

Bolts of lightning scattered in every direction.

They rained down like meteors, piercing through the goblins one after another.

Even the goblins had no way to withstand it.

“Gyaaa!!”

Blood sprayed as they collapsed and died.

“A-As expected…”

“Elf magic…”

Yario stared in amazement as Seretine landed on the ground.

Seretine merely smiled.

“We’ll avenge our comrades!!”

“Die!!”

A goblin that had been hiding in the forest suddenly leapt out.

But Seretine immediately created a fireball from her staff and kicked it forward.

The fireball accelerated tremendously from the force of the kick.

It looked like a comet racing along the ground.

Fire Shoot!!

“Gyaaa!!”

The fireball pierced straight through the stomach of the goblin attempting a surprise attack, spraying blood everywhere.

Unable to contain his curiosity, Yario asked,

“H-How did you notice it?”

Seretine replied,

“Elves have ears that extend out to the sides, so our hearing is very sharp.”

“That’s how I sensed its presence hiding in the forest.”

“U-Umm…”

“As expected…”

“Elf magic really is incredible…”

“Ahem!”

Seretine puffed herself up proudly.

Although it seemed Yario had misunderstood the point slightly…

There was no denying that elves possessed strength that could not be taken lightly.

“Hahahaha!”

“I saw it!”

“I’ve seen how elves fight!”

“Who’s there!?”

Yario and Seretine spun around in surprise.

A group of orcs slowly emerged.

Large bodies.

Bulging muscles.

Massive, heavy clubs in their hands.

“Ugh…”

“They’re many times stronger than that army of transmigrators…”

Yario felt the pressure immediately.

These orcs were roughly ten times stronger than the group of transmigrators that had once chased Seretine.

If the transmigrator army fought them…

They would undoubtedly be crushed.

Yario broke out in a cold sweat.

Fear washed over him.

“Don’t think what you just saw was the full extent of my magic.”

Seretine said calmly.

“We already figured you out!”

“Elf, you have no chance of winning!!”

The orcs charged at the elf all at once.

Their heavy footsteps shook the ground.

Dust rose into the air.

Compared to them…

Seretine looked small and slender.

Yario steeled himself, preparing to step in and help.

But Seretine extended a hand to stop him.

“Don’t interfere!”

“I’ll handle this!”

She raised her staff.

“O spirits…”

“Dwell within my body and shine forth!”

At once…

Fragments of light gathered around her.

They covered Seretine’s entire body.

“What!?”

“Burn this into your memory!”

“This is…”

Astral Form!!

An astonishing sight appeared.

Wings of light spread from Seretine’s back.

She moved lightly through the air.

Her body became vastly more agile.

Then she unleashed a graceful spinning kick.

A glowing arc of light formed around her.

It swept through the orcs.

“Gugyaa!!”

The entire group of orcs was sliced in half in an instant.

Faced with such a dramatic increase in physical ability…

Yario could not hide his astonishment.

An army of orcs several times stronger than the transmigrator force…

Had been annihilated in an instant by a single elf.

Terrifying indeed…

“This spell is necessary for close-range combat.”

Seretine explained.

“It increases my physical abilities several times over.”

“With it…”

“A group of orcs like that is no match for me.”

Yario was completely speechless.

At that moment…

He realized something.

He had gained an incredibly dependable companion.
