Chapter 3: “Rebellion!! The Reincarnated Army Revolts Against the Kingdom!”
While relaxing at a tavern, Yario overheard a group of ruffians talking.
“I hear Demon King Dorodens’s forces are expanding more and more.”
“Yeah… The Four Heavenly Kings are getting stronger too, and the other demons aren’t to be underestimated either…”
“For the past several years, the kingdom has repeatedly gone to great lengths to summon transmigrators from Earth, but apparently every last one of them got completely crushed, screamed ‘AAAAAAH!’ and was wiped out.”
Yario could imagine the desperate screams of the transmigrators as they were slaughtered one after another.
Perhaps the Demon King’s forces truly possessed power that terrifying.
“Th-Then… what about the reincarnated people!?”
“Most of them are too scared to reveal who they are, so they just quietly live as ordinary people.”
“Hmm… But I can understand how they feel. Unlike transmigrators, they were reborn as inhabitants of this world. Nobody wants to have some mission forced on them.”
“Yeah…”
Yario gradually began to realize just how terrifying the Demon King truly was.
Unless he prepared himself properly, he might never accomplish his goal.
“AAAAAAH!! Somebody save me────!!”
Hearing a scream from outside, Yario immediately rushed out of the tavern.
A female elf with long blond hair was being chased by a huge group of men.
“Gwehehehe!! We’re the ones who are going to defeat the Demon King! What’s wrong with taking a woman or two for ourselves!?”
“We transmigrators have our pride too! There’s no way we’re letting you escape!”
“Yeah, exactly! Let’s show them the power of transmigrators!”
“We’ll avenge ourselves for being sent to another world with no way home!”
“To make sure no one can ever send us to another world again, we’re going to take over this whole country!”
“Exactly! And the first step toward taking over the country is sacrificing this elf in blood! Once we do that, the king will surely tremble in fear and surrender!”
Unable to stand by any longer, Yario charged out of the tavern and drew the Holy Sword Absolute.
He extended the sword into a spear and thrust it straight through the first man.
“UGYAAAAAH!”
The man died instantly.
The first transmigrator collapsed to the ground, blood spraying everywhere.
THUD!
“You bastard! W-Who the hell are you!?”
“…I am Yario Fullborn. A reincarnated man, and the wielder of the Holy Sword Absolute, which I inherited from my friend.”
“““WHAT────!?”””
The army of transmigrators immediately stopped before the man blocking their path.
The female elf quickly ran behind Yario.
“You don’t have to worry anymore. I won’t let them kill you.”
“Thank you. I’m Seretine, an elf. Please help me.”
“Yeah.”
The transmigrator army growled in frustration, impatience gradually spreading across their faces.
“We have to kill that elf quickly, or the king won’t be afraid of us!”
“Exactly! We have to make sure no one can ever send us to another world again!”
“You bastard! Are you trying to ruin our perfect plan!?”
“You think one reincarnated guy can defeat mighty transmigrators like us!?”
The transmigrators radiated murderous intent.
But their absolute confidence was not without reason.
They truly possessed strength worthy of such confidence.
“But a reincarnated guy like you probably doesn’t even know the advantages we transmigrators have!”
“Th-The advantages…!? What are they!?”
Yario faltered.
“Heh heh heh… Since you’re about to die, we’ll tell you.”
“The moment we transmigrators arrive in another world, we’re already capable of becoming an immediate fighting force!”
“And that’s not all! The skills we trained in our previous world are still ingrained in our bodies!”
“But what about reincarnated people? Even if they were originally born in the same modern society as us, their current bodies were born in this world. In other words, they have to start everything over from zero!”
“Exactly! Reincarnated people have to spend years growing up before they can even become useful fighters. And then they have to train their bodies all over again! Isn’t that twice the effort!?”
Struck right where it hurt, Yario trembled.
“Y-You’re right…”
“The moment you dared oppose us transmigrators, your luck ran out!”
“Let your own body teach you the terror of the mighty transmigrators!! Hahahahaha!”
“Before we kill that elf, we’ll sacrifice you first! Then we’ll make the entire kingdom tremble in fear!!”
Convinced that victory was theirs, the transmigrator army charged toward Yario all at once.
At that desperate moment, an answer suddenly flashed through Yario’s mind after he racked his brain for a way out.
“Transmigrator Army────! There’s one thing you’ve overlooked!”
““““WHAT────!?””””
“I’ll show you right now!!”
Yario swung the Holy Sword in its spear form.
The transmigrators confidently moved to dodge, but at that very moment, countless black specks drifted across the vision of the man in front.
“Urgh! Floaters in my eyes!!”
The Holy Sword slammed into the distracted transmigrator.
“AAAAAAH!”
His scream rang out.
The next man was nearsighted and misjudged the distance.
“AAAAAAH!”
He was cut down.
The next had spent so little time exercising that his body could no longer move the way he wanted it to.
“GWGYAAAAAH!!”
He too was cut down.
Another suffered from such severe shoulder pain that he couldn’t even raise his weapon.
“UGYAAAAAH!”
And he too fell.
One after another, the members of the transmigrator army collapsed into pools of blood.
“That’s right. Transmigrators certainly have many advantages. But at the same time, all the little ailments and injuries you accumulated throughout your lives have also been engraved into your bodies. Eye floaters, nearsightedness, lack of exercise, and even stiff shoulders once you hit your forties…”
“I-I see… Even if we’re transported to another world, those things wouldn’t just magically disappear…”
“Damn it…! The most important weakness of all… and we overlooked it ourselves…!”
“We were careless…”
“Exactly. Reincarnated people are born with completely new bodies, so they don’t suffer from any of those problems.”
“So… that’s the advantage of reincarnation…”
“Then… we lost because we carelessly overlooked that…”
The entire transmigrator army collapsed and breathed their last.
Watching them die, Yario felt an indescribable emptiness.
But he decided to turn that feeling into determination to defeat the Demon King.
“As expected of a reincarnated person. In a single moment, you discovered the transmigrators’ weakness and defeated every one of them…”
“Seretine. If I hadn’t done that, I might have been the one who died… Transmigrators truly are formidable warriors, powerful enough to make an entire kingdom tremble.”
“I’m deeply grateful to you. Please let me travel with you.”
“Sure.”
And so, Yario and Seretine set off on their journey together.
