Chapter 1-14.5: The March of Calamity

This chapter is short, but it serves as an introduction to Chapter 15.

Deep within the dark forest, a massive shadow crawled forward.

Squelch… squelch…

Each time the shadow slowly planted its feet, a wet sound echoed through the darkness.

Around the enormous shadow, countless other silhouettes of various sizes were moving as well.

Humanoid shadows larger than ordinary people.

Smaller ones.

Four-legged shadows.

Shadows that resembled bears.

All of them were slowly walking in the same direction.

Even when one of the other shadows fell, the rest simply trampled over it without a second thought.

Where were they headed?

They staggered onward with unsteady steps.

Their numbers appeared to exceed a thousand, though the exact count was impossible to determine.

What were they seeking?

There were far too many unanswered questions.

The only things that were certain were that the massive shadow’s eyes glowed an eerie red…

And that, in the near future, something terrible was going to happen.
