Chapter 2: The Stubborn Boss

Lu Jiming strode forward at a blistering pace. With his long legs, Ning Meng had no choice but to hurry after him in quick little steps. Her fitted office dress made it difficult to lengthen her stride, so before moving faster, she had to discreetly tug the sides of her skirt up just a little.

As she passed Yang Xiaoyang’s workstation, the girl licked her lips while staring at Ning Meng’s legs, then raised both thumbs like a complete idiot.

Ning Meng wanted nothing more than to rush over and strangle the little fool.

Once she finally caught up with Lu Jiming, Ning Meng steadied her breathing, adjusted her tone, and jokingly remarked as though she were casually tattling on someone,

“Boss, why don’t you just fire Director Ren?”

Lu Jiming abruptly stopped not far from the conference room door and tilted his head toward Ning Meng. Behind his thick lashes, his eyes once again unconsciously took on that teasing, almost flirtatious look.

“And why should I fire him?”

Ning Meng discreetly shifted her gaze away from those eyes, refusing to let herself be distracted by the man’s unintentionally seductive stare.

“Because he made the decision on his own authority.”

Lu Jiming shot Ning Meng a glare, a faint trace of petulance appearing on his face.

“Who said he made the decision on his own? I was the one who told him to do it!”

Ning Meng put on an astonished expression.

“You told him to do it? Then why were you still yelling at him…?”

Lu Jiming responded with a cold sneer.

“Wipe that fake expression off your face! Stop pretending you don’t know anything! I suddenly got dragged into this capital-injection mess, and now I have to fork out real money for it. What, I’m not even allowed to summon everyone over and give them a good scolding just to vent my anger?!”
