Chapter 6: Ruler of Darkness! The Threat of the Vampire!
Yario and Seretine left the village behind and spent the next two days traveling through the forest.
As an elf, Seretine was highly skilled at survival.
Yario, who knew almost nothing about such things, learned from her and gradually picked up the basics of living in the wild.
Fishing in rivers to catch food.
Building simple shelters from branches and leaves.
Starting fires with wooden sticks.
Learning which plants and mushrooms were safe to eat.
There was a lot for him to learn.
Each time, Yario would exclaim in amazement,
“Oh! I never knew that before!”
Seretine would simply chuckle softly.
Three more days passed.
When they finally emerged from the forest, a vast grassland stretched out before them.
“Hahaha!”
“Looks like we meet again!”
Suddenly…
A large man appeared.
An axe was strapped across his back.
Yario stared at him, feeling as though he had seen him somewhere before.
He tried to remember.
“Since the incident at Ryuhaazoma, huh.”
“That fierce battle really left an impression on me.”
“Ah…”
“You’re that guy from back then!”
“Exactly!”
“Meeting again like this must be fate.”
“Why don’t we go defeat the Demon King together!”
The large man smiled broadly and extended his hand.
Yario was straightforward by nature, so he shook it.
“Sure. I look forward to fighting alongside you.”
“My name is Senpu Furimawar.”
“My weapon is a Holy Sword shaped like an axe…”
“More precisely, I am the wielder of the Holy Axe Dora.”
“And I am also a transmigrator.”
“A transmigrator…”
“You have quite a few advantages, don’t you?”
“Exactly.”
“Thanks to the techniques, knowledge, and physical strength I developed in the economic society of my previous world, I’ve been able to continue traveling like this.”
“You can count on me.”
One of the advantages of transmigrators was that they could become an immediate fighting force the moment they arrived in another world.
They could also make use of the skills they had already learned in their previous lives.
“But what about your nearsightedness?”
“Don’t worry.”
“I permanently wear contact lenses.”
“Then I suppose there’s nothing to worry about.”
Unlike glasses, contact lenses could remain on the eyes constantly.
There was no risk of losing or breaking them.
Indeed…
He was practically a flawless transmigrator.
Yario gained another companion.
The three continued onward, climbing a mountain covered in dead trees.
“B-But…”
“This mountain is creepy…”
“Look!”
“There’s a castle up there!”
Yario looked up uneasily.
Senpu pointed toward a black castle standing at the mountain’s summit.
It gave off an ominous atmosphere.
But night was beginning to fall.
They had no choice but to stay there.
“Let’s hurry!”
Urged on by Seretine, they quickly entered the castle.
By then…
Night had completely fallen.
The interior of the castle was pitch-black.
Then, one by one, candles suddenly lit themselves.
Orange light gradually illuminated the room.
“W-Wait…”
“The flames…”
“They lit themselves!?”
“It’s magic.”
Seretine replied.
Apparently, the master of the castle had used magic to light the candles.
Just then…
A rustling sound spread through the room.
Groups of Skeleton Swordsmen began to gather around them.
Yario and the others immediately became alert.
“W-What is this!?”
“Why are there Skeleton Swordsmen here!?”
Clack…
Clack…
The sound of footsteps echoed from the spiral staircase ahead.
Everyone turned.
A handsome man wearing a black suit appeared with a sinister smile.
The atmosphere became even more unsettling.
“Hehehe…”
“Nice to meet you.”
“And goodbye.”
“I am the master of this Slaughter Castle.”
“The vampire, Dracula Renzoma.”
“Die!”
His handsome face twisted into a wicked grin.
He swung his hand downward.
At once…
The Skeleton Swordsmen rushed toward Yario and his companions.
But Senpu pulled the Holy Axe Dora from his back.
He swung it horizontally with tremendous force.
“Here we go!”
“Destruction Wave!”
A crescent-shaped wave spread outward.
It tore through the Skeleton Swordsmen and blasted them to pieces.
“Gyaaaah!”
The Holy Axe also bore the title “Holy.”
That meant it was effective against the undead as well.
After witnessing the power of the transmigrator…
Yario breathed a sigh of relief.
“Good thing he’s on our side…”
“Oh?”
“This transmigrator seems rather promising.”
“You’re next!”
Senpu confidently pointed his axe at Renzoma.
“I’ve been ruling this entire region with my Skeleton Swordsmen.”
“I was getting bored because there was no one strong enough to challenge me.”
“But this looks like it might turn into an unexpected game.”
Yario suddenly realized something.
He understood that…
This man was the one responsible for the Skeleton Swordsmen that had appeared in the village.
“So it was you!”
“You were the one who attacked that village!”
“Hehehe…”
“You’re only realizing that now?”
“I’ve already destroyed six or seven villages around this area.”
“They’ve all become part of my territory!”
The horrifying truth left Yario and the others stunned.
This man had used Skeleton Swordsmen to wipe out several villages.
“Unforgivable!!”
“I’ll crush you!”
Senpu angrily raised the Holy Axe.
With one powerful blow, he smashed apart the spiral staircase.
But Renzoma lightly flipped through the air and landed on the floor.
Senpu spun around.
Still furious, he swung his axe again.
“Destruction Wave!!”
A massive shockwave surged outward.
But the vampire spread his black cloak like wings.
He soared high into the air and dodged the attack.
“Hahaha!”
“That axe is too heavy.”
“You can’t swing it upward properly!”
“Die!”
“Damn it!”
“He figured out the axe’s weakness!”
Renzoma’s razor-sharp hand pierced straight through Senpu’s chest.
Blood sprayed everywhere.
“Gyaaaah!!”
Senpu screamed with his final breath.
Then…
Renzoma sank his teeth into the dead man’s neck.
He drank every last drop of Senpu’s blood.
Senpu had become his prey.
“So…”
“That’s why he’s called a vampire…”
“Terrifying…”
“That’s not all!”
“Vampires are incredibly agile.”
“Their physical abilities are so great that they can practically fly through the air!”
Even Senpu, who had seemed overwhelmingly powerful…
Had been killed with shocking ease.
Yario could do nothing but tremble in fear.
