Chapter 1: “Ashida Yario Is Reincarnated in Another World!”

In the middle of a modern city lined with towering buildings, a young man was walking down the street.

“My name is Ashida Yario! I’m going to make it big in this city!!”

Filled with determination, the young man paid no attention to his surroundings. He charged straight ahead, stepping off the sidewalk as he rushed toward his goal.

His ambition was to join a major corporation, climb the corporate ladder, and eventually become the company president. The desire for success burned fiercely within him.

With the blare of a horn, a truck came barreling toward him.

“GAAAAAAH!! I DIDN’T REALIZE THE LIGHT WAS RED!!!!”

The young man screamed in despair before being struck and killed by the truck.

It was an incredibly tragic end……

Then, the young man realized that his tightly shut eyes had opened.

He awoke to a strange sight.

It was a desolate place where the ground stretched out endlessly, white like clouds, beneath a pitch-black sky.

“Where am I…? Didn’t I just get hit and killed by a truck?”

He looked around in confusion.

Right before him, a goddess slowly materialized in midair.

《That is correct. You are the unfortunate young man who died after being struck by a truck.》

“S-So this is the afterlife? Hmm… I guess that means I can’t become a company president anymore.”

《Please do not worry. I shall reincarnate you in another world. There, you must discover what it is that you are meant to do.》

The young man was bewildered by the sudden announcement that he would be reincarnated in another world.

“UOOOOOH!! I’LL DO IT!!”

《Fufu, that is an excellent attitude. In addition, I shall grant you a special ability.》

“That’s a lifesaver! Thanks, Goddess!”

He flashed her a confident smile.

And thus, the young man was reincarnated in another world.

He grew up healthy as the son of a family living somewhere in the countryside.

One day, his father said,

“My dear Yario. I have raised you until this day, but the time has finally come. You must now walk your own path as an adult.”

With those words, his father handed him a sword.

Yario, who had just turned fifteen that year, firmly accepted the sword and strapped it to his waist.

“Yes, Father. Thank you for raising me all these years. I swear I’ll accomplish something great!”

“Do your best. I’ll always be rooting for you.”

“Take care of yourself, dear.”

With his parents seeing him off, Yario set out along the forest path stretching before him.

After traveling deep into the forest for several hours…

Three slimes appeared and blocked his path.

“Gwehehehe! We’re gonna dissolve you!!”

“Just like all those travelers before you!!”

“Hee hee hee!”

Yario faltered for a moment, but immediately drew the sword from his waist and readied himself for battle.

“C-Calm down…… I’m supposed to have some ability the Goddess gave me……”

“What the hell are you mumbling about?! Die!!”

One of the slimes charged straight at him.

At that instant, Yario thrust his sword forward.

But then…

“You idiot!! You attacked too soon!!”

“Ah!!”

That was right.

Yario had failed to judge the distance and thrust his sword too early, leaving him unable to hit the slime.

The creature closed in right before his eyes…

But then!?

Suddenly…

The hilt of his sword shot forward with a whoosh, extending the weapon and piercing straight through the slime.

“GWAAAAAAH!!”

Blood sprayed from the slime as it screamed in agony, died on the spot, and collapsed to the ground.

Seeing this, Yario immediately understood.

“I-I see!! I’ve been granted an incredible ability! I can turn weapons into spears!!”

The remaining two slimes panicked.

“Could he be a reincarnated person?!”

“Damn it!! We don’t stand a chance against him!!”

Even so, they refused to retreat.

The two slimes lined up and charged at him simultaneously.

“Then we’ll show you our secret technique!!”

“Double-Body Crush!! Even if you deal with the one in front, the one behind will finish you off!!”

It was a two-layered attack.

Realizing they could never defeat him in a normal fight, they had resolved to sacrifice one of their own to guarantee victory.

“Very well! I accept your challenge!!”

The spear transformed from Yario’s sword pierced straight through both slimes at once.

“GAAAAAAH!!”

The two slimes died instantly.

Because…

If both of them could simply be skewered by the same spear, their so-called secret technique was completely meaningless.

“The determination of those slimes, willing to sacrifice themselves for victory…… Truly terrifying. The journey ahead will undoubtedly be difficult, but all I can do is keep moving forward!”

Even slimes, supposedly the weakest of monsters, could be formidable enemies.

Realizing this, Yario steeled his resolve and continued down the forest path ahead……
