Chapter 7: The Shocking True Form of the Vampire!?
Even Senpu, who had been powerful enough to wield the Holy Axe, had been completely helpless against the vampire Renzooma and lost his life.
“Fufufu! You’re next!”
“H-He’s coming!!”
“We’ve got no choice but to strike before he does!”
The vampire spread his black wings and nimbly swooped toward them.
Yario transformed his Holy Sword into a spear and thrust it forward.
“GYAAAAH!”
Thanks to the spear’s superior reach, the tip pierced straight through the vampire’s shoulder, spraying blood everywhere.
Unlike an axe, a spear could also be thrust upward.
Vampire Renzooma had completely overlooked that fact…
“W-We did it!”
But the vampire pulled himself free from the spear with a sickening jerk and retreated to the ceiling.
Clinging there, he pressed a hand against his pierced shoulder and groaned.
“G-Guhhh…! You’re better than I expected!”
“If that works, then I can finish you off!”
Seeing a path to victory, Yario charged forward.
However, the vampire stubbornly refused to give in, fluttering around with incredible agility and dodging every attack.
Yario continued swinging his Holy Spear, desperately trying to land a hit.
“Hahahaha! As if a spear like yours could ever hit me!”
He danced through the air as lightly and swiftly as a butterfly, evading every one of Yario’s attacks.
Seretine kicked a fireball she had summoned from her staff.
“FIRE SHOOT!!”
“Fool! I can see that coming from a mile away!”
The vampire easily flipped through the air and dodged the fireball.
“W-What incredible agility… If I could just land one thrust, I’d win…! Haa… haa…”
“Even my magic can’t hit him at all!”
Yario attacked with the Holy Spear while Seretine fired magic, but Vampire Renzooma continued to toy with them.
“Fufufu! I’m getting bored! Now it’s my turn!”
He stretched both hands forward, extended his razor-sharp claws, and dove straight down.
But Yario’s eyes snapped wide open as he thrust out the Holy Spear.
“GYAAAAH!”
The spear pierced straight through Vampire Renzooma’s palm, spraying blood into the air.
Unable to endure the pain, the vampire immediately shot upward and clung to the ceiling again.
“Haa… haa…”
His face twisted in agony.
“As long as you attack me, I can hit you!”
Yario had seen his chance of victory and apparently switched to a counterattacking strategy.
Vampire Renzooma glared down at him in frustration.
If he attacked again, he risked being countered.
For now, he had no choice but to remain cautious.
“I-I’ve been wondering something…! Hero Yario! Vampires have extremely high defensive power…! Most weapons should simply bounce off us!”
“Fufufu! This Holy Sword, Absolute, has the ability to cut through anything.”
“I-I see…! So that’s how you pierced through my defenses…!”
Seretine summoned several fireballs around herself.
“I can attack you even from far away! If you come down, I’ll blast you!”
“W-What?!”
“FIRE SHOOT!!”
Seretine kicked the fireballs one after another.
The vampire hurriedly left the ceiling as explosions erupted with repeated BOOMS.
He flew to an undamaged section of the ceiling, but more and more of it was being burned away.
“I get it! If there’s no ceiling left, he’ll have no choice but to come down!”
Yario readied his Holy Spear.
Cornered and grimacing bitterly, the vampire eventually lost the entire ceiling and had no choice but to descend.
He was like a bird whose wings had been torn away.
“D-Damn it…! If my roof is burned away, I’ll have nowhere left to cling to…!”
If the ceiling burned away, then naturally, so did the roof.
Above them spread the night sky, illuminated by a full moon.
“Fufufu! Even a vampire can’t cling to the night sky! Give up already!”
Yario charged forward.
Realizing he no longer had any chance of victory, Vampire Renzooma began forcing his body to expand with a series of cracking sounds.
His body swelled larger and larger.
His muscles bulged grotesquely.
A pair of genuine wings burst outward.
And his head transformed into that of a dragon.
“GUAAAAAAAH!! You’re the first ones who’ve ever forced me to transform into a dragon!”
Incredibly, Vampire Renzooma had transformed into a dragon.
His attack power and defensive power increased enormously, and with his wings, he could now fight freely in the air.
He had become flawless.
“I-I get it now! He changed from a vampire—Dracula—into a Dragon Dracula!”
“The first part of ‘Dracula’ has become ‘Dra’ from dragon…! That means he’s now one of the dragon race!”
“Indeed!”
Yario could only nod at Seretine’s perfectly accurate explanation.
“GUAAAAAH! This is the end for you! DIE!!”
The massive creature charged forward.
But Yario swept his Holy Spear sideways and sliced him cleanly in half.
“GUGYAAAAH!!”
Blood sprayed everywhere as his body split into upper and lower halves, killing him instantly.
The pitiful Dragon Dracula had forgotten that if he attacked Yario himself, he would simply be counterattacked.
That mistake became the cause of his defeat.
No matter how agile he was…
No matter how powerful a Dragon Dracula he transformed into…
Before the Holy Sword Absolute, there was no enemy Yario could not defeat.
“Still, with this, the Skeleton Swordsmen should disappear too. Peace has finally returned.”
“Yeah.”
Leaving the Slaughter Demon Castle behind, the two continued on their journey…
